Magazine | Editorial Policy
The purpose of “Shrawley and the Witleys Parish Magazine” is to enhance the feeling of community and faith in the ecclesiastical Parish of Shrawley and Witley, by publishing information, articles, photographs, reports and notices. In addition, advertisements for local businesses are included at a small cost. The magazine is published monthly (apart from January).
The intention is that the magazine should be funded entirely from subscriptions and advertising revenue; and should not be a drain on parish resources. Any surplus arising will be used for charitable purposes.
Editorial content is selected on the basis that it informs, entertains or relates to the Church, the Parish Councils, the community, individuals or organisations within the parish. This includes, but is not limited to, content that reflects Christian beliefs.
The Magazine relies on written and photographic submissions from members of the community. Anyone may submit material for publication that they consider to be of interest to the readership and is concise and clear. All submissions should avoid derogatory or discriminatory language. No anonymous letters or articles will be printed; however, names and addresses can be withheld at the discretion of the Editor. Any formal community roles of contributors (e.g. school governor, parish councillor) must be included with submissions.
The Editor will endeavour in each edition to provide the readership with a balanced variety of content to make it appeal to as many people as possible within the community. The Editor can not guarantee the inclusion of any article received after the 18th of the previous month. It is at the Editor’s discretion to determine whether a submission is relevant and of interest to the readership. The Editor reserves the right, without a reason, not to print contributed articles. The Editor reserves the right to place with any submission a photograph or image that they consider to be appropriate to enhance the layout of the magazine. The Editor reserves the right to edit content prior to publication.
For any questions about the policy, please email the Editor.
