John Brazener
carpenter and joiner. His last bill 1890 was compiled and submitted posthumously by his wife and receipted “M Brazener” after his death that February. He charged 3s/6d per diem.
1861 age 40, 1871 age 48 and 1881 age 60, living in Church Cottage with wife Mary age 30 in 1861, 36 in 1871, 48 in 1881, 2 children age 2,3 and apprentice Edwin Goodman age 20. 1881 census entered as Brasier. John Brazener was buried 26 Feb 1890; Mary Brazener in the 1891 census is a widow age 60 living on own means in “The Steps” [Woodend Cottage].
Samuel Oakey
carpenter who took over from John Brazener after his death (and from Rowland Williams after his retirement). He was employed by the Vernon estate many days of each year 1890 to 1897, earning 3s/8d a day for building and repairing buildings, doors, window frames, making gates and so on.
1891 carpenter age 44, living in Church Cottage with his wife Sarah age 42, three sons and three daughters.
