Joseph and Fanny Thrupp

Joseph was the fourth of five children born to James and Mary Thrupp of Shrawley.
​His elder brother John died aged 12 in 1815, and his mother died in July 1831.

Frances was born on 12th May 1810 and baptised on 5th June at St Mary's Walton-on-the-hill, Liverpool. She was the fourth of five children born to Evan and Margaret Davies of Liverpool

In June 1841 at The Holders, Joseph (30) was living with his father James (65) a blacksmith, and his older brother James (25)
In June 1841 at Severn Bank, Frances (30) was one of 5 servants working for Henrietta Vernon (42)
Severn Bank lies about a mile down the road from The Holders; effectively next door. It's possible Joseph and Frances met when he came to the big house to shoe horses. Alternatively they may have met at The Lenchford Inn, which they were later to jointly manage, which lies between the two properties.

​On 9th October 1845 Joseph (37) and Frances (35) were married at Shrawley Parish Church

Joseph and Frances had 4 children:
Henry born 1846, married Lucy ??? in 1870, then Eliza Wanklin in 1898, died 1904 
    Henry and Eliza had one child: Frances Elizabeth (1899-1948)
Joseph born 1849, married Sophia Morton in 1872, died 1902
    Joseph and Sophia had 4 children: Henry William, Harry, Mary Louisa and Joseph
Mary born 1850, died 1876 unmarried. Mary is buried in Shrawley plot XB2
Frances born 1853, married William Henry Tyler in 1874. 
​    Frances Tyler is buried in Shrawley plot XB1

In March 1851 at Eagle Cottage now Bayliss Cross , Joseph (41) is now a blacksmith living with wife Frances (Fanny) (37) and 3 children: Henry (4) Joseph (2) and Mary (1)

​Joseph died on 28th June 1860, aged 52. He is buried in Shrawley plot XA8

In April 1861 at the Lenchford Inn, Frances (Fanny) Thrupp is a Widow aged (47) living with 4 children: Henry (13) a publican's son, Joseph (12) a scholar, Mary (10) a scholar, and Frances (7) a scholar

​​Frances died on 19th November 1863, aged 50. She was buried along with Joseph in Shrawley plot XA8
