Early History
​SPRING COTTAGE (next to Bartlands)
William Spragg
had regular employment by the Vernon Estate, earning 2/4d a day throughout 1888-1897, partly as woodman and partly as agricultural labourer. 
1991, age 65 living in Dirtymiddleton [now called Spring Cottage] with his wife Ann age 62, 2 sons and a grandson.

​David Knowles
was the Shrawley wheelwright used by the Vernon estate. 1881, he was age 38 and lived in 8 Sankyns Green with his wife Ann, six children and two apprentices, John Coccum age 20 and Albert Barton age 18. We have yet to identify which house in Sankyns Green was number 8.
