Job Taylor
was a farmer living in Hayes Farm. He was born at Kings Hill, Shrawley and baptised 24 November 1823. He was Samuel Powick’s brother-in-law twice-over because on 26 September 1848 he married Samuel Powick’s elder sister Maria and Samuel married Job’s sister Ann.
Maria died age 24 in 1851 leaving Job looking after baby Emma. He married again 15 October 1857 to Ann Simmonds. Job was caught poaching with Samuel on Lord Ward’s land just before Samuel’s wedding. Job also worked as a woodman felling trees and peeling bark. He carried goods around for the Estate.
