A scheme that helps villages around Worcestershire improve their local area will benefit from £75,000 of additional funding this year. Under the Worcestershire County Council funded initiative, all parish councils that are member of the Parish Lengthsman Scheme will get an additional 15% this next year for a local ‘lengthsman’. The lengthsman duties include basic maintenance work on footways and highways prioritised by the local parish. Click here for more details.
For those unaware, there are TWO defibrillators in the village. 1. One is located at the entrance to the village hall. To gain access, you must call the number on the panel and identify the location. You will then be given an access code. 2. The second is located in the old phone box opposite the new development on the site of the Old Rose & Crown. Defibrillators can be very effective in saving lives, but quick access and having the knowledge to know how to use the equipment safely is critical. Modern defibrillators have a voice guide which takes you through the process step-by-step, and they will not shock people unless their heart is in need of it. The main thing is not to touch the casualty at the time of shock! Training is made available from time to time. Come and get your FREE BURGER and find out what’s happening in your village! Shrawley Show Case Saturday 14th August between 11am-2pm Shrawley Village Hall

As a result of the closure of the village hall for most of the last year, and Covid restrictions, it has only just become possible to complete the installation of the new fire alarm system which is now in operation throughout the whole building including the nursery. We are extremely grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for the generous grant towards the cost of the new system. 07 April 2021 If you are self-isolating due to symptoms or are taking extra precautions to protect yourself during this 3rd lockdown, then we are on hand to help provide the support which you may need through our network of friendly village volunteers. If you feel that you or someone you know in the community may need some additional support at this time, We are happy to help with the following: •Help with shopping •Collection of prescriptions •Any other support which may be required, even if it is just a phone call for a chat if you are feeling a bit isolated.
If our support would be of benefit to you, please call one of the numbers below and we can arrange for the help you need. Anna – 07901 748656 Rhiannon – 07769 674107 Naomi – 07731 670651Tracy – 07810 634544 Rebecca - 07545 190182 Would you like to help too? We have a team of volunteers that are happy to help support our community, if you would like to offer your services and get involved please let me know and I will add you to the volunteer group. Unfortunately both taster sessions and the fitness classes will have to be postponed. I am considering the option of some online sessions via Zoom or Facebook.
I am unsure if there will be any funding available for online sessions at the moment so I will assume that these sessions will be run at a cost of £3 per person, per session. Please would you email [email protected] if you are interested in taking part in an online session and if you would prefer an evening or a daytime session. If there is enough interest I will work out the best way to deliver these sessions. Your physical and mental health and well being are more important now than ever. Would you like to get your health and fitness on track? We are offering FREE fitness classes at Shrawley Village Hall where you will be able to work at your own level and make progress each week. ALL ages, fitness levels and experience levels are welcome.
Your safety is paramount and we are using stringent measures to ensure all participants are protected from COVID-19 and we are exceeding government guidelines as much as possible. Taster sessions have been put on to provide an opportunity to meet myself - who will be the instructor, and get a feel for what is involved. Monday 9th November 7.30pm-8.30pm and Friday 13th November 9.30am-10.30am. If you would like to come along and see what it is all about please contact Jenny Davis on [email protected] Start something amazing in 2020 A big thank you to all of you that have lent your support to Shrawley's very own contribution to this weekend's "One Heritage" Festival. John Mills and the Parish Council recently asked if I'd refresh the village's website. This is the result of my efforts. The site runs in parallel with the parish council's official site and the monthly newsletter published by John. This site is for the use of Shrawley residents. The news section (this bit) is open for use by all society presidents and the chair of the parish council, etc. |
Any village resident can post announcements here through the editor.
Just send me your email address and I'll send you a link which allows you to access the dashboard and post new articles, news items, etc. There is a diary section which is open to all. Simply contact me and I will grant you editing rights. You can then add your society's events, etc so that everyone can see what's happening and when.
Register for our newsletter and you'll receive periodic newsletters from the site relating to parish and community events, etc.
